Reflection of the course
First of all, I think Communication Course very helpful for Architectural students, in particular first year student. By attending this course, I realize that this course has a lot of information and knowledge which is very important and become the fundamental of architectural studies. It can be seen that many students can improve their knowledge and they can learn more about it deeply. For me, this course has been amazing experience and I like the entire workshop that I took. From atlas of colour workshop, I learn about the relation between colour and architecture and I think it is very realted one to each other. By attending this workshop I started to gain knowledge of colour philosophy and I like it to learn more intensely. For the second workshop, I did the material modeling workshop, and I found that this workshop was very interesting and very fun. Since I like model making, this workshop also gave me some information and understanding about what can we do with the model and many variations that can be done in our model. The interesting part was making the model and modifying it. It was really fun and I like it very much. The exercise and the slides that we got from the class were motivating since it has many types of good model and it can be the inspirations for us. Lastly, the third workshop which is Architectural drawing was really good. The tutors were very helpful with us and the slideshows that has been given to us contain a lot of information about the course such as the materials and the drawings of good architect. In this workshop, I realize that the drawing does not have to be very neat and precise, even though I know that it is very important for an architect, but the most important thing is how the drawings that we produce can express our idea and it can communicate with the clients and the other people. Generally, this course has open my mind about what do we need and what is really important in architectural studies.

Workshop 3: Architectural Drawing

The cup exercise.
I find it a little bit hard to do this exercise because the cup has many curvy lines and it hard to measure too. But I finally come up the idea to give a tone into the cup by using charcoal to emphasize the dark and light.
This is the cup that we use.

This the 3D exercise. If you see carefully, I use dots to create the shading of the buildings and the surrounding, such as trees and people.

This is the shadow exercise.
I decided to draw Riva san Vitale House by Mario Botta because I think the building is very beautiful and very interesting to draw. It's just some pictures of the progress of my work. I use T square to draw and rotring pen.
This is the plan showing the floor and the bridge.

This is my final drawing. I want to empahsize on the surroundings of the building so I decided to create a 3D drawing with the surrounding of the house, such as trees and mountains.

I also want to give a sense of 3 Dimensional thing by making layers to the drawing. As a result, the drawings are "pop out" and it is very nice.
In this final submission, I also want to give an attention to the tone because I love playing with tone so I created the drawing by using charcoal and white chalk. Furthermore, black and white colour create nice graphic in term of positive and negative.
Workshop 2: Material Modelling
The box Exrecise.
One thing that I made was a shoe because I think it is very unique and it is very interesting object.
This is a section model of my dwelling. Actually I live in a town house, so I do not have a big house but it is very comfortable to live. The section is not big but it contains all of every part inside my house.
This is one part of the house that I was going to modify. I think the model has many straight lines and orthogonal shapes, so I decided to slice them into pieces and separated them. Moreover, I wanted to add linear wrapping to it, particularly curvy lines so it will have a balance.
This is the outcome of my final model. I think it is very interesting in term of shapes, colour combination, the balance, and the modoficatin of the building.
In my final model, I wanted to emphasize on the balance to the building. As you can see, there are many curvy lines and orthogonal shapes and it created very nice combination.
In this model, I use many types of materials, such as ribbons, wire, many types of different papers, and also the "lighting filter", which is very similar to tranparent paper which has colour in it.
